Hello Gorgeous
Artists Collaboration David Anderson and Slavica Panic
On April 25-29th 2010 over a 1000 people interacted with Hello Gorgeous at Toronto
Alternative Arts and Fashion Week.
Through the form of a seductive, self indulging and amusing playground of lipstick messages on the mirror, Hello
Gorgeousinteractive projects installation is interested in forming a medium of communication among the audi-
ence, where they leave their own love messages for others.
A highly intimate act such as leaving a lipstick note on the mirror, taken out of a private context and happening
in front of others and for others, becomes voyeuristic and slightly perverted. The installation consists of two
large mirrors and a variety of lipsticks each labeled with a different name like “Midnight Delight”, “Hard Candy”,
”Mommie Dearest”, and alike.
By choosing the soft medium of a lipstick with a label that best describes hers/his feelings, we use the
potential of one of the iconic symbols of fashion to read and write on lips. By accumulating notes, the mirror is
transformedinto an oversized message board made entirely of love lipstick notes.
